Danny Murphy column: ‘The Thomas Frank effect’ – but is there more to come from Spurs?

I don’t believe the current identity of Tottenham is set in stone because we have seen how Brutted has developed under him for many seasons and he is just starting here.

When they first got into the Premier League, Bruntford had a direct style and were quite clear or conscious of what they were doing.

If you watched them last season, however, it was a different approach. They play from the back through Christian Norgaard and although they can mix it up, they are not a Trick Pony.

This tottenham team is going to improve as well, but first and foremost what Frank has provided is a solid base like he did at Brentford. For example, in a way that their full backs stay at home more, instead of flying up the pitch like they do under a postecoglou.

We saw that on Sunday, where the repetition of criticism to sit back and invite Everton to them in the second half.

There were times when I thought to myself, ‘Come on, get out of your half because you’re putting yourself under pressure’, but you have to think about what you’ve been through in this game.

Spurs already lost at home in the Champions League on Wednesday and are hanging on for dear life for a draw against Monaco.
