Man Utd star questions Brighton One as Neville predicts more than two Red Devils men

Man Utd goalkeeper Sean Lemmons has been criticized for his role in Brighton’s opening goal as the Red Devils won 4-2 on Saturday.

The Red Devils raced into a three-goal lead inside the first 61 minutes at Old Trafford with Matthijs Cunha, Casemiro and Brian Mbemo on target.

Danny Welbeck pulled one back with a superb free-kick on 74 minutes before Cheralpos Costolas scored in the second minute of injury time to add to the nervous energy around the ground.

However, Brian Mbemo scored the second goal of the game in the seventh minute of injury time to secure the points and give Man utd A third Premier League win in a row.

Ruben Amorim was coming in for a lot of criticism and there were even reports that he could face the sack if results don’t improve.

Their three wins in a row coincide with the UTD boss putting Lemmens in his starting XI for the first three appearances of the season.

Lemmens has come in for plenty of praise but former England and Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes Belgium “did better” than Welbeck’s free-kick.

Robinson said BBC Radio Five Live: “An amazing free kick from Danny Welbeck!

“A great position about five yards outside the box, but there was a big Manchester United wall below him with a draft out, he still managed to get it down and down.

“There will be questions around whether Manchester United’s goalkeeper can do better with him…”

Gary Neville reckons Man Utd have “won a lot of matches” after watching them both score in Saturday’s win over Brighton.

Neville said Sky Sports: “With Cunha and Mebemo, the risk of those signings was de-risked because in that sense they had played in the Premier League before and had an appetite to deliver at a different level.

“Mibimo looks like he belongs. He looks hungry and he wants to score.

“Manchester United have something to build on. Konah and Mbemo will win a lot of matches for Manchester United.”

Fellow pundit Jamie Redknapp believes Man UTD are capable of breaking into the Premier League’s top five after moving to fourth place on Saturday.

Redknapp added: “We can’t go away but there’s no reason this team can’t be in the top five (in the Premier League).

“He certainly has that kind of ability. But the manager, as he said, will be under no illusions. It could go the other way very quickly.”
