‘Liverpool owners/officials are starting to worry about team performances, not just results.
‘Arn Slott’s job is safe for now, but if performances don’t pick up, he won’t hesitate to make a mid-season change. But till now, there is no contact. ‘
Andy Robertson, who has been in and out of the team under the slot this season, was frustrated by Liverpool’s lack of structure against Brentford on Saturday.
Robertson said: “We didn’t do enough off the ball. On the ball, in the first half I thought we created a few moments, kept the ball very well. But you can’t come away from Brentford and just expect them to play off the park because they’re always ready to fight.
“They’re always ready to put bodies in the box when it comes to set-pieces, keeping balls back, picking up other balls. You know what you’re going to get here. They’re always the same and they’re very good at it.
“It felt like we were just a yard off in terms of that. They picked up a lot of second balls, and then back balls.
“Our backline is running back to try and head the ball, which is as tough as it is. We know how tough they are … what a good set-piece team they are.
“We’ve worked on the long-throw and everything, and five minutes in you concede three long throw-ins. One of them you concede from.
“It’s not that good, you’re playing into their hands and there’s been a great fight. Keep fighting but nowhere near as good.

“You have to fight for control. No team in the Premier League, no one is going, ‘You go, you take the ball, we’ll try and defend.’ No one does.
“They always have a game plan, against us and against every team. All managers in the Premier League are so talented, especially teams that have had a whole week to prepare. They have a clear game plan and I think they played it perfectly.
“We didn’t play at all. That makes it so difficult. If you just think you’re going to show up and all of a sudden they’re going to quit, we’re going to get over it and we’re just going to wait until we score. That never happens.
“It’s my ninth season, I think it’s probably only happened once or twice. If we expect that, we’re in big trouble.
“You have to fight for that control, you have to fight for the first balls. You have to fight for the second balls, fight for the first balls, and try and feel your way into the game. And then the quality will come.
“I felt like we never really got a grip on the game today. There were moments but not enough moments to go and really put pressure on them.”
