Once in attacking positions, Califori is clearly the better option, ranking in the high 90s for non-pen goals, total shots and assists, with Lewis Scully having the best of those stats at 46th percentile (assists).
The Italian is also a better defender. 63rd percentile for tackles, 58th for interceptions and 90th for aerial tackles, while Lewis Scully ranks 12th, eighth and 36th respectively.
As such, Califori is Arteta’s best option on the left wing overall, and the fact that he has started all eight Premier League games this season—scoring once and assisting twice—makes a lot of sense.
Unless Arteta can squeeze both into the same side and reap the rewards of the impact both currently have, Califorti is the better option until Lewis Scully is more well-rounded.
