Dyche explained that the team is “still a work in progress” as Forest look to return to the level of pitch they had during his time at the Academy.
“When I was here 1987-90, the team always finished in the top six of the old first division and won minor trophies (the EFL Cup) as before,” he said.
“We’re not there yet, the fans know the club knows that, but it’s about building that momentum and obviously it’s gone a little bit.”
Dyche Left Forest for Chesterfield in 1990, spending seven years defending the Spirerites, before playing for Bristol City, Watford, Wathath.
He has been out of work since a one-year spell at Everton ended in January, having previously spent 10 years as bossley bossley until 2022.
Speaking about his past at Forest, Dyche said: “Everyone knows for years I have spoken about my love and the start of my career under the famous Brian Clough.
“I didn’t force my way into the first team, I spent three years as an apprentice and a young pro and learned a lot.
“I’m happy to tour the Trent with Del Boy’s Dog) running at your feet and hearing the voice of the boss in the distance.
“It’s one of those things, you think one day it will be possible? Not in the early days of my managerial career, but as things started to change in the forest, the new owner of Nottingham, it’s growing, they continue to grow.
“It’s gone my way, I’m happy and proud.”
