Amorim ‘yes’ to ’50m’ transfer amid ‘major’ Ineos ‘huge decision’ on Red Devils star

“Every time he’s on the pitch he sets a standard, and I know he has his limits, but who doesn’t?

“His heading ability is so important at the back, because United don’t have other defenders like him willing to do the dirty work, and he’s a huge threat at the other end.

If they weren’t already convinced of how important he is, they will be after that display against Liverpool.

“Also, it’s something he does behind the scenes, he’s got a lot of younger players at the club, especially in defence, and he’s a great influence and example for them.

“In terms of his contract situation, I’m expecting him to offer him a new deal and from what I hear, he’d be happy to stay if possible.

“It’s something that’s more likely now than ever, and it’s very important that they do it.”
