Jamie Carragher has told Arne Slott the Liverpool duo “have to try it” as he urges the Reds manager to “put himself in Carlo Ancelotti’s shoes”.
Liverpool lost their fourth game on the bounce on Sunday, as Manchester United won their first game at Anfield in nearly a decade to help the slot’s side plunge into crisis, particularly of their own formation.
Brian Mbemo opened the scoring for the visitors in the first minute And Harry Maguire secured all three points for United with a late header after Cody Gakpo had drawn Liverpool level.

Slott made a series of attacking substitutions, including a final 30-minute Ole Maryam, which saw Florian Wertz and Curtis Jones form a defensive-minded duo in midfield behind a front four.
A number of Liverpool players have suffered dramatic declines this season and among the $420 million summer signings, only Hugo Iktyk has produced anything like the quality of form he promised when he joined the club.
On Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Carragher claimed that Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and others had signed in the off-season, representing “Real Madrid signings” rather than the set usually associated with Liverpool.

The Liverpool legend therefore suggested that Slott should emulate what Anselotti has done so well over the years, changing his formation and style to suit the prolific footballers who are routinely signed by the big clubs he manages.
Carragher voted to play in the front four of Mohamed Salah on the right, Wirtz on the left and Akaitaike behind Isak in the middle.

Jurgen Klopp ‘dropped’ the truth about ‘bombshell’ Liverpool return claims
Explaining his choice, Carragher said: “We are particularly focused on attack.
“I think Arn Sloat almost has to be a Real Madrid manager. He should probably put himself in the shoes of Carlo Ancelotti, who – every summer – whether he’s at Chelsea, Real Madrid or AC Milan, will have a big money signing and he has to work on it.
“A good example of that is when he won the Ballon d’Or as a striker with Karim Benzema a few seasons ago. Benzema goes to Saudi and he plays (Jude) Bellingham as a false nine. It’s a completely different way of doing things.”
