David Moyes has revealed his intention to take on another managerial role, but the former Man United and West Ham boss stressed that he will only return if the opportunity is right.
Moyes is currently unemployed after leaving West Ham at the end of last season.
The 61-year-old, who led the Hammers to the Conference League in 2023, has been linked with several roles during the season.
Should Moyes take another job, it would be the eighth of a managerial career that stretches back to 1998.
Moyes admitted to the BBC that he does not intend to take a job at a club fighting relegation should he return to management.
‘I don’t consider myself done yet but I’m certainly enjoying some time off,’ said Moyes to the BBC.
‘The one thing I won’t do is put any manager under pressure personally, because I don’t believe in him. I have not liked it when I have been in that situation myself.
‘We’re all getting a bit older and I have to make sure I’m doing the right thing for myself.
‘If there is another part for him, so be it. But I would only want it to be a good part. I wouldn’t want to be coming in and doing something that’s very difficult.
‘I don’t want to be at the bottom of the league and fight relegation which I’ve had a few times, so we’ll see how things go.’
Moyes has managed over 1,100 games during his career across spells at Preston, Everton, Man United, Real Sociedad, Sunderland and two separate spells at West Ham.
The Conference League success marked the highlight of Moyes’ second spell with the Hammers, which ran from December 2019 to May 2024.
The success saw Moyes bounce back from his disappointing spell as Man United manager after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson, as well as difficult subsequent roles at Real Sociedad and Sunderland.
Moyes has been included in the New Year’s Honors list for services to football, highlighting his achievements in the game.
The Scot has managed a total of 697 games in the Premier League during his career.
Only Arsene Wenger and Ferguson surpass this figure.
