“This is unexpected” – Wimbledon Umpire had to stop the race and announce because of the failure of the line technology

The automatic line in Wimbledon failed during the last 16 Sonay Kartal clash with Anastasia Paulochhenkova.

This is because they have been replaced by an electronic line call system.

It uses cameras, computers and sensors to track the ball path – similar to what is used in the Hawkeye Cricket system.

A maximum of 18 cameras are used in each court until the ball goes to the ground in real time, sounds automatically.

The system was completely clear during the trial match on Sunday with a ball of almost one foot, but there was no contact.

The defender immediately stopped the game in an important place in the race with Pavlyuchenkova and took advantage of DeUce to serve it 5-4.

Dubai Javanz, the head of the British club, said he was confident in the system.

“It’s funny, it’s not, because when we had lines, we were constantly asked why the electronic line was not calling because this is more accurate than the rest of the tour,” he told BBC Sport.

“The players wanted it because they asked us, why do we have lines? Because of the potential human error. And now we have it in place.

“We have to think about innovation and we just move with what the court and most of what players expect.”
