Leaders Celtic signed off for the year with a 4-0 home win over St Johnstone…
John F: It is difficult, if not impossible, to see any team mounting any kind of challenge in the league. In this situation and with the quality of the Celtic squad we are at a different level to every other Scottish team, scary for others and with the Champions League in mind we are likely to strengthen in the January transfer window .
Stephen: It was one of my favorite performances in the league this half season. I thought Alex Valle and Arne Engels were excellent, with Paulo Bernardo doing a good job of covering for our captain. I still feel like we’re a little out of it up front, but that’s more to do with Kyogo Furuhashi’s lack of service, showing again what he can do when he gets a chance.
John T: To have the luxury of reducing the minutes of some big hitters, who all run in our system, while still getting three points, four goals and a clean sheet, is amazing. We go to Ibrox with confidence. With the current form of both sides, it could be messy for Rangers if Celtic take the lead on Thursday.
John M: Another relentless performance from Celtic, the visitors defended well but once the first goal went in it always ended in one way or another.
Gordy: A beautiful performance and a beautiful attitude from the players, they played as if they were playing a title challenger and not the team at the bottom, it’s all down to the manager who won’t let the standards fall, we have to to arrange his contract. from Ibrox where I believe we will show how big the gap is between us and the rest.
Neil: You have to say the rotation has been amazing recently. The players sitting out and coming in all performed well. It is a credit to Rodgers and one of the main reasons we are all but winning the league. Treat the view.
This is a tough watch for Saints fans…
Duncan: Not unexpected, nor disappointing. The gulf of resources in Scottish football is up for another debate. For the Saints there is still clear evidence of better technical players than in previous years, but a serious lack of leadership on the field and stability. January will be important for additions and hopefully a better balance in the field and in their thinking.
Stuart: Another game, another goal or two considered by a goalkeeper who can no longer escape his line. Coupled with the multi-year issue of failing to stop the crosses then there is only one result. The manager should be supported and supported well in the two days when the window opens. The sooner we stop giving goals, the sooner we can start looking for the table.
Glenn: I say we are doomed. An unbalanced squad with some good players but looking weak in defending crosses, nervousness in possession, lack of leadership on the field. The only hope is that with small margins in most sports, new blood can tip the balance.
Jimmy: Better score than I predicted, I thought it would be worse. We still think we need some players in: another striker, a couple more for each midfield and defense. As for the game, we were on the back foot for most of the game, unfortunately I think we looked relegated.
Connor: Same mistakes. Similar points are missing. What’s new?
Mikey: At least we kept it at four rather than the reverse fixture at home at six. Three home games in the league in January we need to start getting points. Leaky defense and wanting strikers is the best for a real relegation fight, the squad does not show that they are ready for it.
