The Baltimore Ravens are looking to clinch the AFC North title this weekend — but there’s one man standing in their way.
Led by the MVP candidate Lamar JacksonBaltimore is currently at the top of their standings with an 11-5 record. but Pittsburgh Steelersat 6-10, are not far behind.
This means there is still work to be done at week 18 Cleveland Browns.
Baltimore If they beat the Browns and win the division, they will be #3. But if they lose and Pittsburgh wins, the Ravens will go into the playoffs as the No. 5 seed.
Taking the No. 3 seed would guarantee at least one home playoff game at M&T Bank Stadium, while a fall to the No. 5 seed would send Baltimore on the road.
With the Browns sitting at the bottom of the AFC South with a poor 3-13 record, star defensive end Myles Garrett would love nothing more than to hurt his rivals’ playoff hopes.
Heading into Week 18, Garrett is tied with Trey Hendrickson for the NFL sack lead with 14 sacks.
particle for direct object The best defensive player of the year Has four straight seasons with 14 quarterback sacks, but has never won a sack title.
So he can be forgiven for focusing on individual honors with nothing left to play for this season.
But before the final game, Garrett sent the Crows a warning – he’s out for the spoiler game.
Asked about his priorities in Week 18, Garrett said: “I’d rather upset them and spoil their playoff hopes.
“And if the sack title comes with it, that’s great. I’m definitely going to do whatever I can to be a nuisance and take No. 8 (Jackson) out of the game as much as possible.
“If it comes with that, great. But at the end of the day, I want to win.”
Unfortunately, winning has been a problem for Cleveland this season — and Garrett’s message could be double-edged.
He’s already made his position clear — he wants the Browns to show him a plan to turn the team into a contender. If not, he wants out.
“First of all, I want to win and I want the Browns to be able to put me and us in a position to win,” he said in December.
And I’m not trying to rebuild. I’m currently trying to win. I want that to come out when the season is over and we have those discussions.
As the campaign drew to a close, Garrett reiterated this message.
A five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All Pro, he has played just three postseason games with the Browns.
He still has two years left on his contract extension in 2020, but if Cleveland wants to keep its star in town, he needs to start winning next season.
If they don’t, Garrett will soon start exploring his options. At least that’s according to Mary Kay Cabot, the author of the Browns song.
He has to see and know that they are challenging for the playoffs and that they are trying to make the playoffs. Super Bowl. “If they can’t say that next year, then he’s really looking at his options.” Cabot recently revealed.
Garrett’s future will no doubt be a big debate in the coming months, but for now he’s focused on one thing — upsetting the Ravens in Week 18.
