The long-running New York-based magazine gives the honor to the star who has had the greatest impact on their sport, considering their profile as well as their professional achievements.

So it’s fair to say there’s been a lot of attention paid to Clarke over the past 12 months.

But fame is unlikely to bother him.

In fact, the Fever star has been in the spotlight since a very young age.

He gained national attention with the Iowa Hawkeyes and impressed with his weekly performances in college.

But Iowa wasn’t the only school interested in recruiting him.

Speaking to the New Heights podcast, Clarke revealed that she has received offers from him NCAA Division I basketball programs before even starting high school.

Fortunately, his parents came up with an ingenious plan to keep him grounded despite all the attention.

“It’s really sad, it’s crazy where college recruiting has gone,” Clark said. Kalche brothers.

“I was lucky, my parents told my older brother to get the letter, they didn’t want me to see it.

“They wanted me to just be in seventh grade and enjoy middle school and hang out with my friends. You don’t have to worry about where you’re going to go to college.”

Clark went on to explain that his parents also helped ensure he didn’t burn out on basketball at a young age by limiting the number of times he played a day.

“My mom is like, ‘He doesn’t play more than three or two games a day, because that’s crazy,'” he added.

“My parents were really good about it. They didn’t want me to lose my love for it. They didn’t want me to burn out. Looking back, I’m very lucky for that.

“I haven’t lost the joy of it, that passion for it.”

There’s no doubt that Clarke’s family handled his unique childhood well.

And now, all these years later, she seems well-positioned to continue making WNBA history.
