In any case, Remolà believes that the legal strategy the club is following is not the best. FC Barcelona relies on an article in the regulations of the Spanish Federation which states that players “in exceptional cases of force majeure” from the same club can be re-registered in the same season. According to the lawyer, however, the Federation’s previous decisions are very restrictive in this regard: “For me, it is not a path with much to follow.”
Remolà defends that Barça should fight against the validity of revoking a federation license once it has already been granted, as is the case with Olmo and Pau Víctor. “In general, federation licenses are for the whole season. In terms of financial fair play, the rule that regulates that clubs do not stretch their arms beyond their sleeves by going into too much debt, the expert explains that if Olmo’s re-registration is not allowed, it would be broken.
“It would produce imbalance and inequality in the League. In this sense, the purpose of the rule would be completely contrary and contrary to the laws of free competition and free movement of workers,” said Remolà.
