Luke Littler is just two matches away from glory after securing his place in the semi-finals of the PDC World Championship.
He accepted the little friend and mentor Nathan Aspinall on stage at Ally Pally in the quarter finals as the pair put on quite the show.
The teenage prodigy was looking to cement his status as favorite to win the Syd Waddell Trophy and set up a huge semi-final against Steven Bunting.
And ‘The Nuke’ did just that, beating Aspinall 5-2.
Littler took a two-set lead before The Asp clawed back to make it 2-1.
The 17-year-old then secured the next two sets, before another fightback from Aspinall saw him move two sets down.
But Littler showed his quality and reached the semi-finals with an average of 101.54.
He will now play fellow fan favorite Stephen Bunting on Thursday night for a chance to repeat last year’s match by reaching the final.
But he hopes to go one step beyond his failure Luke Humphriesas he could play the winner Michael Van GerwenSemi-final with Chris Dubey if progressed.
The finals will be held on January 3, but he will first face the big test of the “bullet”.
Reflecting on the win, Littler told Sky Sports: “I think we both played really well there, but I’m very happy to win.
“The crowd was chanting for Nathan, they wanted to come back, but I had to finish it.
“I’m not saying it’s hard to focus. When each of us won a set, we got punched, but when we hear ‘game on,’ that’s when the game is on. We’ll be fine after that.”
On the prospect of facing Bunting, Nock added: “The fans were good to me tonight, they were also good to Stephen and they can choose who they want to support tomorrow.
I can see a lot of Nook shirts here so I might have better ones than these.
“You play, you sleep, you wake up and you play again. I don’t really like to have days off because I don’t train. I know I’ll be back tomorrow and I’ll be ready for it again.”
