“Barcelona and its fans deserve better” – former competitor Joan Laporta criticizes the president’s handling of the registration issue| All Football

The last few days have been incredibly difficult for Barcelona, who are in serious danger of not having Dani Olmo and Pau Victor eligible for the second half of the season. Because of this, the way the club has dealt with the issue has been heavily criticised, and the latest to weigh in is former presidential candidate Victor Font.

Font, who lost out to Joan Laporta in the last election, took X on Wednesday to slam his former opponent.

“The situation with the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor is very serious and paints a bad picture of the best club in the world. Like all Barcelona fans, we are very concerned about the sporting, financial and organizational results. This could even lead to the loss of a player we signed four months ago for just €55m due to poor planning and unprofessional management.

“We hope that the club will resolve the situation for the two players, but we cannot accept how the president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, has dealt with this matter. We demand that the board and president explain their actions and the consequences in detail, including: Why did we sign such an expensive player if we were already over the Fair Play limits and didn’t have a clear plan to’ w fix? Why did we take legal action if we knew it wouldn’t work, as court rulings have shown? What is the club doing now to ensure we don’t lose Olmo and Pau Victor? What is the truth about Camp Nou VIP seat sales? Have they been sold? To which investors and under what terms?

“We don’t want to lose a player just months after spending €55 million on him. We give the president a reasonable amount of time to explain everything and show immediate action from the club. But we will stay awake. We will not sit by while the club’s resources and reputation are wasted, affecting us on the pitch. Barcelona and its fans deserve better. We need to end these bad habits and feel proud of our club again, because Barcelona is more than a club.”

If Barcelona can’t sign Olmo and Victor, there will be a lot of pressure on Laporta. In this regard, perhaps he can count himself lucky that Barcelona’s next presidential election is not until 2026.
